What to say on a K-pop fancall: questions, requests and Korean phrases
A fancall goes fast. Most calls last one to three minutes, and nerves make it feel even shorter. The fans who come away happiest are the ones who planned two or three moments, not a speech.
Plan by call length
| Call length | A plan that fits |
|---|---|
| 60 seconds | Hello and your name · one question or request · one sentence you want them to hear · goodbye |
| 90 seconds | The 60-second plan, plus a quick reaction moment (a prop, a sign, a photo) |
| 180 seconds | Two questions, one request, your message, and time to actually talk |
The event notice says how long your call is. Write your plan on a card behind your phone.
Questions that work
Short questions they can answer on the spot get the best reactions.
- Either-or: “Summer or winter?”, “Coffee or tea?”, “Stage or studio?”
- A recommendation: “What song should I listen to on a hard day?”, “What should I eat when I visit Seoul?”
- About the album: “Which song from this album was the most fun to record?”
- About you: “Can you guess where I’m calling from?”, “Can you give me a nickname?”
Requests fans love
- Say your name, or a short message to you
- A heart pose, a wave, a little aegyo
- React to your sign, your outfit or a photo you hold up
- Cheer you on for something real: an exam, a new job, a hard week
Check the notice first. Some events limit what idols can do on calls.
What to avoid
- Personal or private questions (relationships, family, where they live)
- Asking for contact details or social accounts
- Anything you would not want asked of you by a stranger
- Long stories that eat the whole call
Easy Korean phrases
A few words in Korean almost always get a smile. Pronunciation is written the way it sounds.

| 미국에서 왔어요 | mi-gu-ge-seo wa-sseo-yo | I’m from the US |
| 잘 들려요? | jal deul-lyeo-yo? | Can you hear me okay? |
| 보고 싶었어요 | bo-go si-peo-sseo-yo | I missed you |
| 사랑해요 | sa-rang-hae-yo | I love you |
| 고마워요 | go-ma-wo-yo | Thank you |
| 항상 응원할게요 | hang-sang eung-won-hal-ge-yo | I’ll always support you |
| 건강 챙기세요 | geon-gang chaeng-gi-se-yo | Take care of your health |
| 화이팅! | hwa-i-ting! | You’ve got this! |
| 또 만나요 | tto man-na-yo | See you again |
Many idols understand simple English too. Speak slowly, in short sentences, and do not worry about being perfect. They are used to fans who are nervous.
If something goes wrong
- The connection drops: stay on the app. Many calls reconnect if time is left.
- You freeze: look at your card and read the first line. It happens to everyone.
- They do not understand: smile, point, or switch to one of the Korean phrases above.
