How to spot a K-pop fancall scam
Fancalls are short, rare and emotional, which is exactly why scammers like them. Most scams follow the same few patterns. Learn them once and you will spot them every time.
Red flags
- “Your spot is 100% certain.” Winners are chosen by the event organiser. Nobody outside the organiser can make a spot certain before the results are out.
- They message you first. A stranger who slides into your DMs offering a fancall is the most common start of a scam.
- No event details. They cannot tell you the exact event, the round, the registration deadline or how winners are picked.
- Pressure. “Only one left”, “decide in 10 minutes”, “this offer ends tonight”. Real deadlines exist, but they come from the event notice, and you can check them yourself.
- The account is new or empty. Few posts, no history, followers that look bought, a name that is one letter off from a known account.
- They ask you to keep it secret or to move to a different app straight away.
- Proof that cannot be checked. Screenshots with no date or event details, or “trust me” instead of details you can check.
Questions to ask before you send anything
- Which event is this, exactly? Which album, which round, which members?
- When does registration close? (You can compare it with the event notice.)
- How are winners picked for this event: a random draw or a ranking?
- What happens if I am not picked?
- What exactly am I paying for, and when?
Someone honest answers all five, in writing, before you decide. If the answers are vague, walk away.
How to check who you are talking to
- Start the conversation yourself, from the account listed on the person’s own website, not from a link someone sent you.
- Check the handle letter by letter. Copycat accounts swap an “l” for an “I”, or add an underscore.
- Look for a long, consistent history: posts over weeks or months, not a burst from yesterday.
- Keep everything in writing. Screenshots of what was promised protect you later.
How biaslog works
- We only talk to fans from @b1asl0g on Instagram, and our only website is getbiaslog.com.
- We never message you first. You always start the conversation.
- We never promise a spot, and we never ask for payment on this website.
- We tell you how an event works and what is still possible before anything is decided.
